Competition Entry - Rethinking the Future 2020
The project “LIFTED” was developed from a simple concept of lifting the ground material to create a canopy. To create a coherent design structure, the word “fragment” became the pivotal point in developing and communicating our design concept.
Material from the pavement was used to create a connection between the ground and the roof structure. The coherent use of materials allows the pavilion not to look discrete, but to be naturally blended into its surrounding environment. Irregular shapes of fragments from the ground were elevated to work as a canopy. The interconnected cement pieces support each other and become thinner as the pieces are placed in a higher position.
The “LIFTED” project serves as a space for people to escape from the sunlight and as a sculptural artwork that people can directly engage in.
